Please allow me to share with you ten benefits of loving God:
- God redeems us from a life of sin.
- God forgives all our sins.
- God removes our sins from us as far as the east is from the west.
- God does not give us the punishment we deserve for our sins.
- God heals us.
- God renews our youth by satisfying us with good.
- God works righteousness and justice for us.
- God remembers that we are human.
- God shows us compassion.
- God loves us endlessly.
Given these ten benefits, why would anyone not want to love God? The benefits are out of this world!
The ten benefits I just shared with you, I gleaned from Psalm 103. These are just a handful of benefits God gives to those who love Him. The Bible, God's word to us, is full of benefits, or blessings, that God gives to those who love him.
You may be thinking, "I need to be blessed. I need to receive God’s benefits, but how do I love God?" Jesus gives us the answer to that question in John 14:15. Jesus says, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."
According to Jesus, we love him by obeying his word. We obey his word because we love him. Loving God and obeying God goes hand in hand.
Beloved, I encourage you today to read God's Word and obey it. As you do, you are loving God. As you love God, you receive his benefits. Read Psalm 103 today and see how many benefits you can pick out in just that one chapter of the Bible. You will be blessed.
